I'm Aleksandra, the founder of a small custom bakery called Boem from Tampere.

I make all my cakes and pastries by hand from gluten-free and lactose-free ingredients. Wonderful personalized cakes are created by listening to the customer's wishes. 

I'm a restaurant chef by training and I've practised it for a few years in a wonderful fine dining restaurant where I learned a lot and had nice colleagues. After I went on maternity leave, my interest in cakes grew. For several years, I mainly practiced making cakes for my own family, close relatives, and a few acquaintances.

After a long consideration, I decided to start a home bakery in my own little kitchen. Thanks to wonderful customers, my business grew so much that the space in my own kitchen was no longer enough, so my husband and I built better workspaces for my business in our large heated warehouse. 

I specialized in making gluten-free products because of gluten sensitivities in my own family. My workspace does not handle gluten-free raw materials at all, and my products do not use gluten-free wheat starch either.


For me, the important thing about baking gluten-free is that the products taste as good or better than the "normal" products that have gluten in them. Therefore the entire serving can be gluten-free for all participants at parties and events with no need to serve gluten-free to guests with celiac disease or gluten sensitivity.
